About me...

Quick Overview:
My life seems to be split in a few different phases. I was born in Holland but moved to Canada when I was 6 years old. Another 6 years went by in Canada and my family decided to move back to Europe, but somewhere with a bit nicer climate, Barcelona Spain. I essentially grew up there (at least physically), but after another 6 years decided to go to the University of Edinburgh to study. After 4 years I received my Masters in Psychology and moved once again, but this time to Switzerland. Currently 6 years have already gone by here, I got my PhD at the University of Zurich, but I think I'll stay a little while longer. I work at the Clinic Barmelweid in Canton Aargau and the Inselspital in Bern doing various research projects involving EEG, TMS, MRI, sleep and sleep disorders, amongst other small projects.

Hobbies... Football
With my research taking up a substantial amount of time, I have essentially one main hobby, football. I play and coach for the Bern Grizzlies. Most people associate football with big dumb guys... and for the most part they are right.
I started playing TE and DE for the L'Hospitalet Pioners as a junior before going to Scotland and playing for the Edinburgh Wolves. Not before coming to Switzerland in 2006 though did I really invest the necessary time and take the sport seriously. I tore my ACL in March 2011, but still played most games in 2011 and 2012 despite two surgeries in between.
I've also coached the Swiss National Junior (in 2008) and First Team (2012), where we came in second place in group C of the European Championship (unfortunately not enough to advance to Group B in 2013.
